The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the full reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge.
The bridge has been closed partially for months due to comprehensive rehabilitation of some ‘sections’.
Meanwhile, Governor Sanwo-Olu in a post on microblogging website X, formerly Twitter on Thursday declared the full reopening of the bridge for use, stressing that the ‘extended repair works have been completed to ensure its safety and efficiency for all residents’.
“I am pleased to announce the full reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge after extended repair works have been completed to ensure its safety and efficiency for all residents. Your patience and resilience during this period have been paramount in maintaining our city’s economic momentum,” he stated.
The governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Mr. David Umahi for their expedited focus and attention to details on the Third Mainland Bridge project.
He added: “Their commitment has significantly contributed to the timely and quality completion of these necessary improvements.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also thanked the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation for their effective traffic management throughout the course of the project.
He disclosed that their dedication has minimized disruptions and maintained flow, thereby demonstrating collective strength and ability to overcome challenges.
The governor enjoined the residents to embrace the smoother journeys that the newly renovated bridge provides – and called for a renewed emphasis on road safety.
He explained that ‘our shared commitment to safety ensures not only our wellbeing but also the wellbeing of other road users’.
He further expressed gratitude to Lagosians for their unwavering support.
